Description
Volunteer to clean headstones at the historic Chalmette National Cemetery.
Cemetery cleaning event! Come help out!
Serving those who served us: Over the course of time hundreds of volunteers have served by cleaning the 14,000+ headstones out at Chalmette National Cemetery.
The cleaning is starting up again with a huge push over the next year to get all headstones looking like new. There are 10 dates planned over the next year all starting at 8am and ending at 12pm.
Whether you are a group of 2 or a group of 80, anyone can help in this effort.
You can schedule a volunteer date by emailing [email protected].
We ask volunteers to bring their own water/snacks/sunscreen/bug spray/etc.
All work supplies will be provided.
Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve shares the treasures of south Louisiana through six park sites (all with free admission---see the list below). The park’s mission is to share and protect the area’s natural, historical, and cultural resources. Note that each site has different hours and days of operation; information about each site is at https://www.nps.gov/jela/
