Description
LOWER MAKEFIELD, PA — The reopening for the closed Delaware Canal towpath segment has again been postponed, this time by about a week. The new date is on or about Nov. 5, the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission said Thursday.
The canal towpath section near the bridge has been closed since Sep. 20, to allow for the installation of a pedestrian bridge over the canal with a connector path on the western side of the canal.
When completed, the new pedestrian bridge and connector path will provide a safe connection between the towpath and the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission's 1799 House trailhead area and nearby park-and-ride lot off Woodside Road in Lower Makefield.
Once all construction on the Scudder Falls Shared-Use Path pedestrian/bicycle facility is completed sometime in November, the link will be especially integral.
