DOYLESTOWN, PA — Doylestown Hospital was awarded the American Heart Association Achievement Awards for their improvements in the quality of care and recovery for cardiovascular patients. The awards were specifically for "implementing quality improvement measures that ensure cardiovascular patients receive efficient and coordinated care, ultimately leading to more lives saved, shorter recovery times and fewer returns to the hospital," according to a press release from the hospital. Several awards came from the American Heart Association and the American College of Cardiology. Scott Levy, MD, Vice President and Chief Medical Officer for Doylestown Health, discussed the importance of these measures the hospital has taken to ensure the best environment for cardiovascular patients. "These guidelines require precision and coordination of the stroke, cardiovascular, emergency department, critical care, hospitalist and pharmacy teams to deliver timely care and improved outcomes for our patients." Doylestown Hospital's work with The American Heart Association's Mission: Lifeline and Get With The Guidelines programs has helped patients in need of emergency cardiovascular care get the treatments and surgeries they need quicker. With related health conditions being a major issue in America, protocols like these are integral to saving lives.
