DAKOTA COUNTY, MN — Dakota Electric Association announced that it donated money to school districts 196, 197 and 199, as well as Inver Hills Community College.
The donations, totaling $50,000, came from the unclaimed capital credits fund, the association said.
ISD 196 will use its share of the money to address students' mental and emotional needs due to the changes they faced during the pandemic, the association said.
ISD 197 will use the donation for innovative teaching practices and to bring the school community together for a celebration, the association said.
ISD 199 will use the donation to buy interactive equipment for the elementary schools' STEAMM (science, technology, engineering, art, math and media) labs, the association said.
Inver Hills Community College will use the fund for scholarships for students in developmental and civic education, the association said.
Dakota Electric shared that it has donated nearly $400,000 across the school districts throughout its service territory since 2013.
Dakota Electric is a customer-owned non-profit that provides electricity to over 110,000 Dakota County residents, as well as portions of nearby counties, the association said.
