Description
As much as I hate to give progressives much credit, their stance to not voting on the Reconstruction compromise before reading the full text of the Reconciliation Bill, is actually a good thing. It gives the American people time to read and understand many arguments for, and against, the bills, and just who is going to end up footing the tab. Hopefully, they will remember when midterm elections come around next fall.
Liberals have done all they can to stick it to the rich, and have, by and large, done that, but when we take time to actually read the thousands of pages in these two new bills, there are many instances where low wage earners will pay a big chunk of the new spending.
The tax code already penalized people for getting married. Deductions for married couples both earning income is less than they would make if not married. The tax code of 2019 penalizes a married couple making a combined income of $42,000 by more than $1,500, if they chose to get married. Under the proposed Reconciliation bill, the penalty for getting married would raise to $2,700. This alone would raise billions of dollars on the backs of people now making about $20,000 to $25,000 per year.
The last time I checked, these are not rich people.
