District 129 Offers Hot Spots To Students With Limited Internet

AURORA, IL — West Aurora School District 129 is gearing up for possible e-learning days caused by snow days this winter by offering a couple of different options to students who might not have proper internet access at home. The district has a limited number of hot spots available that filter internet content similar to the access students have at school. The devices can't be used for personal use, officials said in an email Friday. Students interested can email Mr. Englishharden or call 630-301-5107 to reserve a hot spot for the remainder of the school year. Officials are also offering low-cost home internet access as another option. Families can get a connection through Comcast for as low as $9.95 a month through the government's Emergency Broadband Benefit. Based on family income, the program is available to students who qualify for free or reduced meals. With this option, students would have both academic and personal use of the internet, unlike the hot spot's restricted access.
