ALTADENA, CA — More than a dozen first responders in Altadena helped escort the Special Olympics' "Flame of Hope" Thursday morning as part of its Law Enforcement Torch Run. Personnel from both the Altadena and Crescenta Valley sheriff's stations were on hand to help escort the torch onto the next leg of its run, according to Altadena Sheriff's Station officials. The torch run is meant to help increase awareness and raise money for the Special Olympics. The next Special Olympics will be held next year from June 5 to 12 in Orlando, Fla.
