Here are the top stories today in Atlanta: Today is the last day of early voting for the upcoming General Municipal and Special Election. The city of Atlanta will hold elections on Nov. 2 for 10 Municipal judgeships, 16 City Council seats, the City Council President chair, and the job of Atlanta Mayor. If no candidate in any race reaches 50 percent plus one vote, a general run-off election will be held on Nov. 30 between the top two candidates. (Atlanta Patch)Several members of the Atlanta Police Department's Bicycle Response team arrested a man accused of killing a women in a Cobb County hotel. The Cobb County Police Department's Major Crimes Unit issued a lookout alert Wednesday to area law enforcement agencies for help in finding Ulysses Grant Gatling III, suspected in the murder and aggravated assault in the death of Jaline Belton eight days earlier. According to Atlanta police, several Zone 6 Bike Team members who remembered seeing the suspect around the King Center pathway jumped on their bikes, rode back to the area and surrounded Gatling, who was arrested without incident. Jonathan Fox, a Texan who owns Atlanta's Fox Bros. Bar-B-Q with his twin brother, Justin, weighed in on the delectable debate, declaring Atlanta the winner. (FOX 5 Atlanta)An Atlanta high school celebrated a name change and $34.9 million renovation Wednesday. Midtown High School had been previously known for decades as Henry W. Grady High School, named for a newspaper editor who died in 1889 and whose racist history included advocating for white supremacy after the Civil War. Nearly a year ago, after students demanded change, saying the old name was offensive, the school board voted to rename the campus located across from Piedmont Park. The new name coincided with a $34.9 million campus expansion and renovation, funded with revenue from a one-cent sales tax approved five years ago and completed before classes began in August.
