Job description Assistant Manager - Los Angeles Animal Rescue Facility The Los Angeles Guinea Pig Rescue is seeking an experienced candidate to help guide, manage and provide continuity and leadership to our guinea pig care team. We are looking for an experienced leader with a high level of integrity, and who will also be experienced in animal program management and animal rehabilitation. You will be instrumental in implementing procedural organization and training to ensure program efficiency and quality. This position will work cooperatively with team members from all departments to oversee and perform all daily operations at LAGPR and assist the director with all operating tasks. Tasks include but are not limited to: · Guinea pig wellness checks, behavioral observation and adoptions · Daily customer service and guinea pig care guidance; must have strong verbal skills. · Strategic thinking, planning and execution is necessary. · Skilled with time management, prioritizing and multitasking. · Must have strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills and ability to work under pressure. · Strong work ethic with a high degree of energy, emotional intelligence and excellent interpersonal skills. · Ability to work in a facility with a variety of animal species however this position is specific to working with guinea pigs. Allowed to work legally in the USA and have a valid drivers license and reliable transport Background checks will be performed Manual labor - This is a physically demanding position and mostly outdoors. We require that you must be able to lift 50lbs minimum. Must be able to bend, lift, push, stoop, stretch, climb, and crawl and other strenuous activities to maintain equipment and buildings Work schedule is 5 eight hour shifts per week; candidates must have flexibility to work any day of the week. Saturdays and holiday availability is required Occasional travel may be required to assist with transport for veterinary appointments, animal adoptions or rescue. Previous guinea pig experience is not a pre-requisite. Training will be provided. Requires you to work on Saturdays and sometimes extra hours outside of the regular schedule might be required. Experience working in a non-profit organization, an animal shelter, a training program and/or rescue experience is a plus Bachelor’s Degree Preferred This is an exciting opportunity to work up close and personal with our world renowned team of guinea pig experts and our director and founder Saskia Chiesa.
