After losing everything in Hurricane Andrew on August 24, 1992, they started anew in Tallahassee, Florida, and built their personal business over the years into a real estate sales team averaging 10 members closing over 200 homes per year for 18 years plus, with the best year of $86 million and 486 houses. The Rivers have sold over 5600 homes since starting their careers. Gene and Rebekah launched their brokerage ownership in 1996 co-owning a Re/Max franchise with partners. In 2000 they sold out the Re/Max office and opened their first Keller Williams office in Tallahassee and today own and operate 6 locations with four Keller Williams Market Centers - Tallahassee, Jacksonville, Orange Park, Panama City, and Panama City Beach/30A. They have over 800 agents and staff and in 2019 the combined volume in units was over 5400 closings at 1.5 billion dollars, placing their brokerage group #124 in the RealTrends top 500 US brokerage groups in 2019. In addition, Gene and Rebekah own North Florida Title Co. and Penn Homes Construction & Real Estate Investment Company. The Rivers have invested in homes, townhomes, condominiums, office buildings, lots, land, and developments for many years and have a multi-million dollar portfolio.
