A by-students for-students event. Share your ideas, meet & collaborate with Iowa peers, learn how to become a change agent in your school. Students: Are you passionate? Do you want to do something about an issue you care about but don't know where to start? Would you like to make your world a better place? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then RISE is for you! Organized by the Iowa Student Learning Institute, a youth-led, 501(c)(3) nonprofit, this event is by students for students. RISE is an innovative student voice conference for you to share your ideas, meet and collaborate with your peers from across the state, and learn how you can become a change agent in your school and community. The conference will feature keynotes from recognized student leaders, followed by breakout sessions that allow you to explore solutions to issues you care about. During breakout sessions, you will have the opportunity to discuss issues in your school, lead a breakout session on a topic you care about, meet other students who are passionate about making a difference, and explore solutions to the problems you care about. More details coming soon! FAQs What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event? Free onsite parking is available. Teachers who are bringing students to the event often work with their school to provide transportation. Email us at [email protected] if you need help with arranging transportation. What can I bring into the event? Lunch will be provided to all attendees for free but you may want to bring a water bottle, snacks, etc., depending on your travel arrangements. Do I have to stay the whole time? Nope! While we encourage students to stay as long as possible to get the most out of the event, we understand that you may need to show up late or leave early to travel back home. As long as you've ordered your tickets on Eventbrite we will have your name on a list. We believe that being a student does not mean sitting in a desk: the solutions to challenges in education and our communities lie in students, and our job is to unleash that potential. The mission of the Iowa Student Learning Institute is to revolutionize Iowa's approach to education through the power of student voice. IowaSLI focuses on organizing opportunities that provide students the ability to network with other students that share their passion and the tools they need to make a difference in their schools. IowaSLI is unique in that all of the organization's work is driven by students, for students with the support of Iowa's education community.
