Their collections of chic, vintage, and colorful activewear and gifts will inspire the whole family. Shopping with them, expresses your Love and Support in efforts in Bridging Exceptional Children and Inclusion Gaps in Communities! All proceeds from the sale of merchandise support the long-term success of the Khyiah T Byrd International Foundation and rendered services. In Addition: Shoe Drive WHAT: The public is invited to participate in a shoe drive to raise funds for KHY KORNER SpiritWear’s Spreading Awareness of Children’s Disabilities. Donations of gently worn, used and new shoes will be accepted. The amount of money raised is determined by the total weight of the shoes collected. All donated shoes will be redistributed to microenterprise partners through Funds2Orgs, a for profit social enterprise, and used in developing nations for impoverished people to start their own businesses. WHEN: October through November 2021 (11-1p (M/W/F)) WHERE: Raleigh Founded, 310 South Harrington St., Raleigh NC 27603 DETAILS: In the US alone, over 600 million pairs of shoes are thrown away per year. The materials used to manufacture a pair of shoes are created from chemical compounds that will create health hazards if left to disintegrate openly or in landfills. Shakema McClean, a United States Army Disabled Veteran, entrepreneur, community activist, Special Needs Parent Advocate, and Executive Director of the Khyiah T Byrd Intl Foundation, KTBIF, a New York native living in Raleigh, and single parent with a Special Needs 11 yrs. old. She graduated from Wake Technical Community College with an A.S in both Supply Chain Management and Business Administration with Veteran Honors along with an abundance of certificates. An advocate for persons with disabilities, namely children. Formerly held the Employer Resource Chair member of the Raleigh Mayor’s Committee for Persons with Disabilities; currently serving as Chair of Transportation and Community Access. In conjunction with serving the Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Commission as an Outreach Committee Commissioner. She is also a member of Kappa Epsilon Psi Military Sorority, Inc.
