This veterans day join Father Michael Hendrickson give his talk about his life with the navy. Father Michael D Hendrickson - Growing up in Morgan Hill, Fr. Michael Hendrickson entered the U.S. Naval Academy in the Summer of 1986 after graduating from Live Oak High School. Following his commissioning as a naval officer, Fr. Michael spent a year in the Naval Nuclear Power training pipeline before serving as a division officer onboard the frigate USS INGRAHAM (FFG 61) based out of Long Beach, CA from 1992-94. Getting out of the Navy, Fr. Michael entered St. Patrick’s Seminary, Menlo Park, in August 1995 as a seminarian for our diocese and was ordained a deacon and priest in 2001. He served as a Naval Reserve chaplain from 2003-12. Assignments included tours in Okinawa, Japan (2004- 05), USS IWO JIMA (LHD 7) (2005-07), a “weekend warrior” with 23rd Marine Regiment (2007-12), and a year loaned to the Army serving in eastern Afghanistan (2009-10). He is currently pastor of St. Mary Parish in Gilroy.
