Press release from the City of Salem: October 27, 2021 Due to this week's heavy winds and Nor'easter storm, the Salem Transfer Station (12 Swampscott Road in Salem) will open for extended hours on Saturday, October 30th and Sunday, October 31st, from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m, and Monday November 1st from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Salem residents with proof of ID may drop off yard waste in a paper yard waste bag or dumped loose at the designated area on the site. Yard waste in plastic bags will not be accepted. Because of the large number of branches and tree limbs that fell due to the wind storm, the transfer station will accept branches greater than 2" in diameter for this weekend only.
