STAMFORD, CT —State Rep. Caroline Simmons, the Democratic Stamford mayoral candidate, picked up several new endorsements this week, her campaign announced on Thursday. In a submission to the Stamford Advocate on Wednesday, Sen. Richard Blumenthal, Sen. Chris Murphy and Congressman Jim Himes endorsed Simmons to be the next mayor of Stamford. "This is an incredible honor to have Senators Blumenthal and Murphy and Congressman Himes join together to endorse me for Mayor. These three leaders fight each and every day for our community, and they know what is at stake on November 2nd when voters go to the polls," Simmons said in a news release on Thursday. "They recognize the difference a Mayor can make in the future of our city, because they work with Mayors every day and know how important it is to have a partner in the Government Center," Simmons added. "As Congress prepares to invest historic resources in infrastructure, I am prepared to work with our federal delegation, Governor Lamont, and our state delegation to make sure Stamford gets its fair share and we build a stronger future for our residents." Simmons is going up against unaffiliated candidate, Bobby Valentine, who has received several endorsements himself.
