We estimate this temporary assignment will last approximately three months. This is an immediate opening, starting asap. About the position The Temporary Shipping & Receiving Specialist is a critical role within Bellwether’s Operations Team, with primary objectives of providing timely and effective shipping and receiving support, kitting to support manufacturing, and teardown and rework of service parts. This high-impact role reports to Bellwether’s Warehouse Manager, and partners closely with Manufacturing, R&D, Tech Services, CX, Logistics and Finance. Key Responsibilities include: SHIPPING - Confers and corresponds with other departments regarding all aspects of shipments, including order information, shipment methods, specifications, and problem resolution with shipping partners - Prepares documentation for shipments, packing lists and shipping labels - Prepare items for shipment; seals, labels, and affixes shipping labels to packages for shipment, in accordance with shipping requirements and courier pick-up schedules - Stage material in shipment area based upon priority and shipment method. Loads, unloads, and moves packages and other material as required - Compiles and regularly updates parts records in ERP based on outbound shipments - Maintains and manages the shipping schedule, coordinating with shipping companies regarding any special schedule requirements or circumstances. Develops and maintains positive relationships with drivers and representatives of couriers - Monitors national and international shipping costs and efficiencies; recommends and participates in rate negotiations with vendors as appropriate - Requisitions, stores, and prepares shipping materials and supplies, ensuring an adequate supply for operations - Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows safety protocols at all times RECEIVING - Verifies and keeps records on incoming shipments. Compares identifying information and counts and/or weights to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders or other records. May inspect, accept, or reject goods received - Receives inbounds into ERP - Delivers or routes materials to warehouse or specified departments as needed - Packs and unpacks items to be stocked, and stores items in an orderly and accessible manner in the stockroom in its designated inventory area. Marks inventory items using identification tags, stamps, or other labeling equipment - Examines and inspects stock items for wear or defects, reporting any damage to supervisor. Keeps records on damaged stock - Confers and corresponds with purchasing and accounting representatives to rectify problems, such as damages, shortages, and nonconformance to specifications KITTING - Supports work order parts kitting daily for manufacturing - Ensures kits are complete and staged in a timely manner before production shifts start TEARDOWN AND REWORK OF PARTS (training to be provided) - Executes teardown of parts and components - Supports service parts cleaning for Technical Services Qualifications - High school diploma or GED and two years related experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment, including a working knowledge of inventory control practices and systems - Ability to operate material-handling equipment, including a forklift truck, pallet jack, shrink wrap device, hand-truck, or other similar equipment, and various hand tools. Forklift certification is preferred, or will be provided. - Knowledge of basic computer operations and software applications, including knowledge of shipping software (e.g. Fed Ex, UPS), database/ERP/inventory systems, and label printing software and printers - English proficiency, written and verbal - Strong communication, attention to detail, multi-tasking, and creative problem-solving skills - Team player with strong ability to build and maintain relationships - Ability to perform measurements and basic mathematical operations - Bias towards action and ability to thrive in a quickly-evolving, fast-paced environment Physical Demands - Must be able to lift minimum 40 lbs - At times, will be required to go into various areas of the facility; office, lab and manufacturing, subject to temp and humidity changes - Ability to sit and stand for extended periods throughout the work day EEO statement We are an Equal Opportunity Employer.
