Description
BROOKLINE, MA — Brookline's First Light Holiday Celebration will return this year in a hybrid format, giving residents an opportunity to ring in the holiday season in-person or virtually on Saturday, Nov. 20 from 2 to 5 p.m.
The town has celebrated First Light Holiday Celebration for decades. Prior to the pandemic, the event was hosted in Brookline's business districts, where locals visited approximately 50 businesses to enjoy live entertainment, giveaways, and samples.
Last year, the event was held online due to health concerns. Businesses provided listings of their offerings with links on the Chamber's stand-alone website and virtually brought visitors to each business where entertainment, promotions, and fun activities were offered.
Because comfort levels vary this year, participants will be given the option to participate virtually, in business in-person, or in an outdoor community gathering.
Participating businesses are responsible for developing their own programming and must fill out this form by Nov. 1. Entertainers who are interested in being featured at the event should fill out this spreadsheet to be matched with a host business.
The Brookline Chamber will also be hosting a Window Decorating Contest ahead of the event. Participants are asked to take a selfie and their favorite business' decorated window and post it on Instagram, Twitter, or Facebook, tag the business, and use #FirstLightBrookline. An array of prizes are available for winners.
