WOODBRIDGE, VA — A planned fight in Woodbridge resulted in an armed robbery and a group assault on Wednesday night, according to the Prince William County Police Department. No suspects have been identified, and a victim reported injuries that were not life-threatening. Authorities responded to the 13900 block of Jefferson Davis Highway in Woodbridge around 10:45 p.m. on Wednesday. A caller reported that an assault had occurred in that area earlier in the evening. "The investigation revealed that the victim, a 35-year-old man, and an acquaintance agreed to mutual combat in the above area," the police department wrote in their incident report. "Shortly after the altercation, a group of men who were known by the acquaintance, began striking the victim." Investigators determined that one of the men used a firearm to strike the victim. The same man also took the victim's phone, police said. No shots were fired during the assault. Eventually, the group separated, according to police. The victim was taken to an area hospital to receive treatment and police were contacted. The victim's injuries were not considered life-threatening, authorities said. No suspect description was provided for the group of men.
