Here are the top stories today in Roanoke: Just one week until Election Day, keep an eye on the open seats on the Roanoke County School Board. Eight candidates are competing for four open seats on the Board. The seats for the Catawba, Hollins, Vinton, and Windsor Hills districts are up for election. (WSLS 10)Researchers at Virginia Tech are improving methods to map brain cell connectivity in zebrafish. This advance could improve understanding of how the human brain functions. Additionally, the research could provide clues to more precisely treat neurological diseases and eye injuries in humans.
