Student Success: Understanding the Whole Student This workshop discusses how to identify and support students with academic, social, and personal issues related to their status as first generation students and/or members of class, ethnically, nationally, gender and/or sexually diverse communities. Participants will explore various resources (on-campus and off) to best assist and address the strengths, needs, and challenges of our students. Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this workshop, participants should be able to: Understand the strengths, needs, and challenges of students from underrepresented populations, Identify campus and community resources to address challenges and support students and their successful college matriculation, Describe campus programs that support students from underrepresented populations, Discuss strategies to support academic success, student engagement, and college completion. Facilitator: Mr. Jeff Eppley - Associate Director of Student Integrity Mr. Eppley joined Georgia Gwinnett College from the University of California, Riverside where he held the position of conduct coordinator. In this position, he adjudicated a wide range of conduct cases and served as the point person for all cases involving student organizations. He also worked proactively to educate students and student organizations about a variety of topics, including ethical leadership and hazing prevention. Prior to working at UC Riverside, he had professional experiences in both student activities and student conduct at Western Michigan University, where he earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees.
