COLUMBIA, MD — Howard County police say a 16-year-old from Baltimore has been charged in connection with a carjacking in Columbia. A man called police Tuesday morning and said he was in his car in the 5400 block of Harpers Farm Road, when two male suspects with their faces partially covered approached his car. Police said one of the suspects showed a handgun, assaulted the man, and demanded the vehicle. The victim of the carjacking and two passengers got out of the vehicle, and the two suspects drove off, police said. Howard County Police located the vehicle nearby and arrested the 16-year-old, charging him with armed carjacking, robbery, motor vehicle theft, assault, and weapon violations. Police say there were no major injuries.
