The Maintenance Technician is responsible for production related maintenance at Beecher’s Handmade Cheese, including equipment maintenance and repairs, task scheduling, training, documentation, and procurement. The Maintenance Technician reports to the Production Manager and collaborates with production employees to achieve sustained, consistent, and efficient equipment reliability and organization. Starting wage is $22 per hour. Responsibilities: • Preventive Maintenance: Performs preventive maintenance tasks. Composes and maintains an effective preventive maintenance schedule which minimizes unscheduled repairs, includes varied equipment. • Certifications: Has the ability to obtain a Pasteurizer Operator License and broken seal certification (New York facility). Ensures compliance with company and regulatory pasteurization requirements. • Facilitation: Collaborates with production personnel to ensure procedures, equipment, and facility meet internal, third party, and regulatory requirements and maximize equipment reliability. Provide troubleshooting when there are equipment breakdowns. • Food Safety: Ensures compliance with food safety practices per the company HACCP program, SOP’s, Work Instructions, and BRC code. • Employee Safety: Contributes to employee safety, including training, procedures, equipment maintenance/upgrades, process arrangements, and timely response to safety issues. • Procurement: Coordinates procurement and organization of equipment, parts, and tools, working with the Production Manager and Director of Cheesemaking. • Culture: Sets a consistent example for company core values and actively promotes a culture of respect, quality, productivity, and continuous improvement. • Other Duties as assigned. Projects: • Composition, refinement, and performance of PM tasks. • Development of equipment knowledge and mechanical dexterities to enable effective maintenance, adjustment, and repair of production equipment. • Process/equipment improvements. Job Requirements: • At least one year of experience working in a food production facility, or equivalent qualifying combination of education and work experience. • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft office/data entry. • Strong written and verbal communication skills. • Ability to stand for long periods and lift 50 or more pounds. • Participates in On-Call schedule. • Reliable transportation required for travel between our production facilities.
