AUSTIN, TX — Two downtown Austin workers were rescued Thursday after a scaffold malfunctioned while they conducted outdoor maintenance on a high-rise building. Austin-Travis County EMS said in a Twitter post the incident took place around 10 a.m. on the 1200-1249 N Interstate Highway 35 Service Road going southbound. Authorities received reports of a "scaffolding malfunction" where two people were "hanging from ropes" at a construction site. Live in Austin? Medics said they were not injured and were stuck and unable to get out of the situation themselves. It took about two hours for rescuers to get the two workers to safety on the ground. Both victims did not need medical attention, officials said.
