Here are the top stories in Providence today: The Rhode Island Department of Health has reported the state's first human case of West Nile Virus in 2021. The person who tested positive was a resident of Providence County in their 50s and is currently hospitalized after starting to experience symptoms approximately four weeks ago. West Nile Virus is spread to humans by the bite of an infected mosquito. (onworldwide.com)The Sport's Tap in Providence is now allowed to reopen after last weekend's shooting, according to The Board of Licenses. However, the owners of the bar have decided to stay closed for the time being. Dylan Conley, chair of The Board of Licenses, has said the owners have been very cooperative, adding that the city board hasn't seen anything that indicates the bar is at fault in the shooting. (WJAR)The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management is offering $75,000 grant awards to communities and private businesses that own and/or operate boating facilities that are accessible to the public, as a way to maintain and improve boat pump-out facilities.
