ELMHURST, IL — In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving a suspicious cleaning crew, daycare trouble, a missing credit card, a stolen car and an online dating scam. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports: Suspicious cleaning crew A resident in the 200 block of Chandler told police Tuesday that she hired a maid service to clean her home and always had the same crew. On Tuesday, though, an unfamiliar crew arrived at her home. She said she asked the crew to leave her home after she felt uncomfortable. She noticed one of the people took a picture of her car's license plate. Nothing appeared to be missing from the house. Daycare trouble A father told police that he discovered a scar on his son's head after picking him up from daycare at 5 p.m. Monday. He also said his son had been waiting outside the daycare without a jacket. He filed a report with the state Department of Children and Family Services. He was advised an investigator would respond to the daycare the following day. Missing credit card A person told police Monday that he noticed his credit card was missing and that upon reviewing his bank account, he discovered the card had been used in the 300 block of West Butterfield Road. The victim contacted his bank, and the card was canceled. Stolen car An officer noticed an unoccupied car Monday that was found to have been stolen in Gary, Indiana. The car was parked in the 300 block of West Butterfield Road. The Gary Police Department was notified. Converter theft A catalytic converter was stolen from a vehicle between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday in the 300 block of West Butterfield Road. Online dating scam A resident in the 400 block of East Vallette Street told police Tuesday she sent a stranger various gift cards and bitcoin. The woman said she had been communicating with the person through an online dating site and had been sending the person money for about a month. The woman canceled her accounts and notified her bank.
