Toys, Food Sought For West Suburban Pantry Harvest Week

WOODRIDGE, IL — As the winter holidays approach, West Suburban Community Pantry (WSCP) will be collecting toys and food for those in need at several locations throughout the western suburbs during Harvest Week, which runs Nov. 11 through 18. "The need is especially critical during the holidays and bringing joy to struggling families is rewarding to donors and families alike," WSCP Development Director Lisa Spaeth said in a news release. Spaeth added, "We count on the generosity of our community to help local children and families share in the security of knowing they have a meal to share and can enjoy warmth and peace of the holiday season. We are so grateful for your support." Residents are encouraged to donate the following items: New, unwrapped toys and books for kids up to 12 years old Baby diapers and wipes Canned vegetables Boxed potatoes Stuffing mix Canned gravy Cranberry sauce Pumpkin pieDessert mixes Other holiday foodsThe following locations will accept drop-off donations. Janes Ave., Woodridge Nov. 13 from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. St. Joan of Arc Church 820 Division St., Lisle Nov. 14 from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. First Congregational Church 25 E. Benton Ave., Naperville Nov. 15 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Woodridge Park District Hohnke Community Center 2600 Center Dr., Woodridge Nov. 16 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Faith Lutheran Church 3000 Liberty St., Aurora Nov. 17 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Clara's Restaurant 6550 Rte. 53, Woodridge Nov. 18 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Woodridge Pantry 6809 Hobson Valley Dr., Woodridge Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Patch has partnered with Feeding America to help raise awareness on behalf of the millions of Americans facing hunger. Feeding America, which supports 200 food banks across the country, estimates that in 2020, more than 50 million Americans will not have enough nutritious food to eat due to the effects of the coronavirus pandemic.
