Climate Action Plan: Lakewood Chooses Sustainability Consultant

LAKEWOOD, OH — Lakewood has chosen a consultant to develop the city's climate action plan. Sustainability Solutions Group (SSG) will aid city officials as they collect data and engage the community on the topic of climate action. The final plan should be released in fall 2022. "After reviewing several well-qualified firms, SSG was chosen because of their extensive experience working with cities tackling climate change," said Shawn Leininger, director of planning & development for Lakewood. Lakewood's Climate Action Plan will define the city's plan and objectives in creating a more sustainable municipality. This will include reducing emissions, reaching 100 percent renewable energy, and creating a more equitable community. SSG has offices in the U.S., Canada and Chile. "We are excited about this important step in moving forward with a Climate Action Plan for Lakewood," said Mayor Meghan F. George. "My administration and City Council have worked diligently together to build awareness and momentum for environmental projects aimed at improving air and water quality in Lakewood."
