CULVER CITY, CA — Culver City police Thursday are asking the public to help identify a suspect who stole a man's bicycle at gunpoint. The armed robbery happened about 7:45 a.m. Oct. 21 near the area of Braddock Drive and Sawtelle Boulevard, according to the Culver City Police Department. Officers responded and met the victim, who said he was riding his bicycle on Sawtelle Boulevard, under the 405 Freeway, when he saw the suspect on a bicycle in front of him, police said. As the victim continued to ride his bike southbound on Sawtelle Boulevard, the suspect blocked his path and told the victim the bike belonged to his friend, police said. The suspect pulled out a gun and pointed it at the victim, police said. He told the victim to walk the other way or he would shoot him. The victim, in fear for his life, gave the suspect the bicycle and walked northbound on Sawtelle Boulevard and away from the area, police said. The suspect rode off with the stolen bicycle beside him southbound on Sawtelle Boulevard. Police describe the suspect as a Latino man, approximately 47 years old, 5 feet 8 inches. He has a medium build and was wearing a black hat, white t-shirt, and a gray sweater. No further details were available. The bicycle is a white and black road bicycle with black curved hand bars. The make and model were not immediately released.
