Description
I am looking for experienced caregivers to assist my 84-year-old mother, who has vascular dementia, at her home in Eugene. She needs lots of gentle reminders, loving guidance and companionship to continue maintaining her independence and her home. Tasks include meal prep, household chores, personal hygiene, and companionship.
The best caregivers for her would be patient, caring, resilient and responsible and enjoy gardening/nature, music/dancing, reading books together, silliness and laughter. Caregivers must be skilled at navigating dementia-based behaviors, especially overcoming a strong resistance to care, and be able to lead from behind while maintaining my mom’s dignity and personhood. Previous in-home experience caring for people living with dementia is essential.
I am looking for a weekday caregiver who can commit to regular 2-3 hour late afternoon shifts Monday through Friday, and a weekend caregiver who can cover both 2-3 hour morning shifts and 2-3 hour late afternoon shifts on Saturday and Sunday.
References and COVID vaccination required.
If interested, please email me an introduction to yourself and your experience caregiving for people living with dementia in their homes.
