Join the OBRC Corporate Team! The Oregon Beverage Recycling Cooperative has an opening for a Senior Database Administrator to provide technical leadership on company database systems and solutions. OBRC is the industry steward of Oregon’s nationally recognized beverage container deposit program. We help keep Oregon beautiful by providing outstanding services to our partner distributors and retailers, and to the public for the recovery, reuse, and recycling of beverage containers. Summary This position will collaborate with various departments to develop an understanding of data and information needs, identify solutions, and improve the quality of service while providing support through the logical and physical design of databases. The Sr. DBA is responsible for maintaining the integrity and performance of the company databases and guaranteeing the data is stored securely and efficiently. The Sr. DBA provides strategic guidance and implementation of the corporate data warehouse and the corresponding data feeds. Primary Duties & Responsibilities Install, design, and maintain database system software and implement database security. Monitor and analyze database performance and ensure effective and efficient utilization of database systems/processes. Participate in the development and maintenance of strategic, architectural, and tactical plans for the database and data warehouse environments; be conversant with, and cognizant of, the future direction of systems, how that direction impacts the company, and how future and current database systems can be exploited for the company’s benefit. Provide technical leadership on database systems and solutions. Provide individual mentoring and training on databases and tools. Recommend, test, and evaluate new technologies, software tools, and required skill sets; recommend and implement improvements. Implement a Business Continuity solution for the database environment, including the installation and configuration of database software and replication processes. Set and maintain database standards. Maintain database dictionaries and support tools; develop and maintain accurate system documentation. Identify and analyze the logical database structure for the company’s current and future needs. Create, develop, maintain, and control the corporate data directory, which will include names, descriptions, sources of data, and keywords needed for categorizing and searching data item descriptions. Ensure integrity of database system by developing, documenting, and enforcing security procedures and access controls. Compose and develop protocols for levels of access necessary to view, print, sort, enter, revise, or delete material. Design, implement, and periodically test database backup and recovery procedures. Analyze requirements for current and future database performance; recommend equipment changes when necessary. Develops guideline for database training for data-entry staff, data analysts, and end users. Collaborate with various departments to identify needs; refine system to maximize multipurpose uses. Assist senior management with reporting necessary to monitor the business within various departments. Manage direct report(s)/systems and work with operations team members to ensure the route operations and field service department systems are reviewed and approved daily/weekly for pick-ups and container processing. Reconcile these systems monthly in collaboration with the finance department. Maintain the UPC database used in reverse vending machines for container redemption at BottleDrops and retailers. Provide outside reports for distributors, retailers, and other third-parties, as needed. Manage retailers and distributors on OBRC’s partner portal. Train, coach and supervise direct reports to complete daily tasks, maintain company standards, and following company policies and procedures. Complete other duties as assigned. Education/Experience Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology/Computer Science or equivalent combination of education and experience required 5+ years of SQL server database experience as Database Administrator (DBA), including experience installing, configuring, designing, patching, archiving, and monitoring to include performance tuning databases with indexing Microsoft certifications (preferred) Minimum 1-year supervisory experience Requirements – Skills, Job Knowledge & Abilities Experience utilizing various high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) options for MS SQL Server. Experience with backup/recovery best practices. Extensive experience with query tuning and troubleshooting. Working knowledge of data encryption techniques and database querying and management tools. Experience running and creating SQL Server health assessments reports/SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) report development/experience writing complex SQL Queries. Data warehouse design using star-schema and/or snowflake methodologies. Previous experience with Azure data technologies (Azure SQL, Data Bricks) PowerShell and Power BI development. (preferred) Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and Outlook Ability to analyze systems, identify opportunities for improvement, develop improved policies or procedures, and work collaboratively to implement organizational change Demonstrated ability to successfully prioritize and manage multiple projects, adhere to deadlines, handle frequent changes effectively and professionally, follow through on issues in a timely manner, and give excellent attention to detail with a high level of accuracy Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate effectively at all levels with both internal and external partners Supervisory Responsibility This position has direct supervisory responsibility Benefits Medical, Dental, Vision, and Long Term Health Insurance 401(k) with company matching Paid Time Off Paid Holidays ** Ready to apply today? ** Click on the following link:
