We are more than 13,000 nationwide volunteers strong working together to ensure everyone receives a warm, delicious meal on Thanksgiving Day Over the last 17 years Operation Turkey has remained a 100% volunteer organization without a single paid employee. We are more than 13,000 nationwide volunteers strong working together to ensure everyone receives a warm, delicious meal on Thanksgiving Day. The goal in the greater Houston area is to feed 8,000 people who need a great meal and warm fellowship. Turkey Tailgate – First we smoke and grill the BIRDS! Wednesday November 24th, 7 am - till we are finished (usually around 6 pm.) Held at 4 different locations: Elks Lodge #2628, 1050 Katy Fort Bend Rd, Katy, TX 77493 American Legion, Post 521, 2221 Preston Ave, Pasadena, TX 77503 American Legion, Post 654, 3105 Campbell Rd, Houston, TX 77080 St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 5501 Main St, Houston, TX 77004 *Not for small children due to cooking equipment. Operation Turkey – Next, we deliver the BIRDS! Thursday November 25th, 7 am – approximately 2 pm). This occurs at two different locations (VFW and American Legion Halls) where we will plate and stage the food along with the delivery teams.
