Sherman United Methodist Church, Evanston, is pleased to announce the Diva 2 Diva Concert featuring Greta L. Oglesby, and Tramaine Parker The Congregation of Sherman United Methodist Church, Evanston, is pleased to announce the Diva 2 Diva Concert featuring Greta L. Oglesby, award winning actor and songstress, and Tramaine Parker, performing artist and soloist. The concert will be held on Sunday, November 7, 2021 at 4:00 pm. at the church located, 2214 Ridge Avenue, Evanston, IL 60201. Tickets for the concert are $25.00 plus surcharge. Greta Oglesby is an esteemed veteran of the Twin Cities and Chicagoland theater communities. Her performances have been variously described as “ravishing,” “indelible,” “powerful,” “magnificent,” “heartbreaking,” and “brilliant.” Her theater credits include: Ten Thousand Things: Thunder Knocking on the Door, Once on This Island, King Lear, The Furies. Penumbra Theater: The Wiz, The Piano Lesson, Amen Corner, Black Nativity. Guthrie Theater: Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner, The Crucible, Caroline or Change, Burial at Thebes. Children’s Theater: Beggar’s Strike, Five Fingers of Funk, Last Stop on Market Street, and The Wiz. Greta is married to Rev. Dennis M. Oglesby Jr, Pastor of Sherman UMC. Tramaine S. Parker began singing at the age of four. She has sung with the Chicago Children’s Choir, traveling nationwide and internationally, singing all genres of music. Performing at such venues as Ravinia, Harris Music and Dance Theater, Carnegie Hall and Riverside Church in New York are highlights of her Children’s Choir experience. While attending Lincoln Park High School, Tramaine excelled in her talent, earning honorable superior ratings for solo performances at City and State competitions. Attending Fisk University, she sang with the famous Fisk University Choir and Fisk Jubilee Singers. Today, Tramaine continues to perform as a soloist and with several choral ensembles including the John Work Chorale and Vocality. She is currently a member of Black Monument Ensemble and Lakeside Singers in addition to singing in her Sherman United Methodist Church choir. We are so excited to see everyone at the event.
