Description

Do you feel nervous walking to your car at night? Do you have a fear of being home alone? Do any of these scenarios sound familiar to you? The Dallas Police Department will be hosting a R.A.D Women's Self-Defense Class on 10/28, 11/4, 11/11, and 11/18. These classes are taught in consecutive order. You will have to attend all four classes to register. 5:30pm - 8:00pm. R.A.D Women's Self-Defense is a course that has foundations in education and awareness. The course includes lecture, discussion and self-defense techniques suitable for women of all ages and abilities. You must be able to attend all four classes to register. Classes range in time per class and are a total of twelve hours in length. Skills you will learn are proper punching, kicking, knee strikes, and bear hug and strangulation escapes. After completing the class students can use their skill in simulation training. The simulation allows participants to suit up and go through various scenarios. The simulation is optional for participants, and if you choose not to participate, you are welcome to stay to cheer on your classmates. However, I recommend for all participants to consider the simulation because it reinforces the skills learned in the self-defense course, while also building confidence. This course is twelve hours. Not only does this course teach you skills that could save your life, but it is also great exercise as well as a great opportunity for team-building.
