STAMFORD, CT — Election Day on Nov. 2 is fast approaching, and there are a number of key races on the ballot in Stamford. Patch reached out to candidates for local office to get more information on their campaigns and the issues that are facing the city. Democrat Ines Saftic is running for the Board of Representatives in Stamford. Experience: Board of Representatives Family in government: No The single biggest issue in town is ______, and I plan to do this about it: Maintaining and increasing quality of life in a city that is consistently growing. Urban development has already put pressure on city's infrastructure in need of updating. More frequent and extreme weather events due to climate change are adding even more pressure on top of that. We need to have a risk assessment of our present infrastructure handling growing urban development and extreme weather events so we can have take steps and prepare for the future as other urban areas have done after the floods and storms. Requesting available state and federal funds. Critical differences between me and my opponents: Serving the interests of constituents and small businesses in my district. Accomplishments: I am currently serving on the Board of Representatives and I am unafraid of asking tough questions. It's important to ask for full transparency on issues before voting. As an elected official I have a track record and I am consistently voting for the interest of my constituents. Other issues: Maintaining and caring for our parks and beaches Using our tax dollars wisely and keeping Stamford affordable Making sure peoples interests and concerns are put ahead of big developersWhat else would you like voters to know about you? Some of our sidewalks, crossways and intersection have gone through great improvements, but some areas still need them. Personally I would like to see more trees planted, more grass area, and less cement only. It is good for us, but it is also good against flooding.
