STAMFORD, CT — Election Day on Nov. 2 is fast approaching, and there are a number of key races on the ballot in Stamford. Patch reached out to candidates for local office to get more information on their campaigns and the issues that are facing the city. Democrat Don Mays, 66, is running for Board of Representatives in Stamford. Occupation: Safety Engineer - Retired Family: Married and father of two young women. Family in government: No The single biggest issue in town is ______, and I plan to do this about it: I will work with the city to address important issues such as the condition and safety of our roads and bridges and ensure that North Stamford residents get the services and representation they deserve. Critical differences between me and my opponents: My running mate, Jen Matheny, and I are running unopposed Accomplishments: As a former C-suite executive, I have been able to lead diverse teams with different agendas, find common ground, and achieve uncommon results. I serve on several non-profit boards and have successfully advocated on behalf of consumers. Other issues: Communication with residents is key to providing effective representation. Stamford's government needs to run efficiently with the operational excellence necessary to keep taxes in check and deliver services that meet the needs of our city, community, and neighborhoods. What else would you like voters to know about you? I have testified before US Congress, Presidential Commissions, and government agencies on behalf of consumers. I hope to leverage my experience to enhance the quality of life in Stamford.
