NEW HAVEN, CT — With inaugural flights to Florida beginning in just days, Avelo Airlines has landed at Tweed New Haven Airport. Avelo announced last week it added another direct flight to Florida. Beginning Jan. 13, 2022, Avelo Airlines will fly to Sarasota Bradenton International Airport (SRQ) from Tweed, with introductory fares starting at $49. This latest destination brings to six Avelo serves including Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Orlando, Palm Beach and Tampa. The non-stop flights will operate Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. Its first direct flights to Florida begin next week. Avelo and HVN are hiring more than 100 aviation professionals by the end of the year, who will be based at the airport. Avelo is investing $1.2 million to help upgrade and modernize facilities and operations as part of an overall $100 million project at HVN, which will include a new terminal and extended runway spearheaded by airport operator Avports.
