ANNAPOLIS, MD —Luminis Health, a Maryland-based healthcare system, announced Tuesday that its Board of Trustees approved a $29 million investment in employee incentives, including updated benefit offerings and salary investments. Among the highlights in the new offerings are: Upfront tuition assistance, full-time health benefit premiums for most part-time employees, raising the minimum wage to $17 per hour and increasing the starting salary for newly graduated nurses. The company said the initiatives will impact approximately 6,7000 employees throughout the health system. "Throughout the pandemic, our employees consistently carried out the mission of Luminis Health – enhancing the health of the people and communities we serve through our RISE values (Respect, Inclusion, Service, Excellence)," said Tori Bayless, CEO of Luminis Health. "These financial investments will help Luminis Health stay competitive, as well as address staffing shortages that impact hospitals across the country." New and updated benefits include: Upfront tuition assistance payment Reducing wait time for short-term disability for all full-time employeesFull-time health benefit premiums for most part-time employeesSingle retirement plan for all Luminis Health employeesNew Registered Nurse (RN) Weekender Program, allowing for flexible work shiftsBonus for full-time bedside RNs with more than 20 years of experienceCollege loan repayment program for full-time bedside RNs with three years of service, up to $10,000 per year maxing at $30,000 The compensations adjustments, include: Raising the company's minimum wage to $17 per hourRealigning compensation for high demand, high vacancy positions in support services and allied health.Increasing the starting salary for newly graduated nursesAdditional bonuses for various nursing positions based on salary and hours worked Luminis Health, which serves residents in eight counties across the state, has a new strategic plan called Vision 2030. In it, one of the company's goals is to become the No. 1 employer of choice in the region and a place where "100 percent of team members find joy at work." "By making these investments in our workforce, we can attract top talent and retain highly-skilled employees," said Manny Ocasio, chief human resources officer at Luminis Health. "Many of these benefits will take effect immediately and will be implemented by Jan. 1." Luminis Health was formed in 2019 and is comprised of Anne Arundel Medical Center, Doctors Community Medical Center, J. Kent McNew Family Medical Center, Pathways and Luminis Health Clinical Enterprise.
