Here are the top stories in Des Moines today: A Polk County judge is dropping a charge against a prominent leader of the Des Moines Black Liberation Movement. Jaylen Cavil was charged with disorderly conduct. Prosecutors say he organized and led a protest in September of 2020, which blocked city streets without a permit. (KCCI Des Moines) Champ-Pacifique Mukiza has been in the By Degrees Foundation since 2015 when he was in the third grade. One of his favorite memories about joining the group was touring Central College that year. By Degrees is a nonprofit focused on preparing students for life after high school.
