Wheaton Begins Flood Improvement Work With Dorset Park Project

WHEATON, IL — Wheaton plans to make improvements to flood-prone areas with a series of capital projects that will begin with work near Dorset Park. The initiative comes after Wheaton's Engineering Department performed 17 flood studies over the course of three years, a news release said. The studies identified 15 potential areas that may benefit from flood improvement projects. Residents, especially those who live near Dorset Park, at Orchard and Butterfield Roads and Dorset Drive, are invited to learn more about the Dorset Park flood improvement plans at two upcoming meetings at City Hall, 303 W. Wesley St. The meetings will be held Nov. 1 at 5 p.m. and 5:45 p.m. via City of WheatonOther flood-prone areas in Wheaton that were identified as potential sites for flood improvement projects include: Briarcliffe Lakes Cherry Street Dorset Drive at Dorset Park Dorset Drive at Ridge Park Erie Street Glendale Avenue Harrison Avenue Jefferson Avenue Madison Avenue Mayo Avenue Pershing Avenue East Pershing Avenue West Prairie Path Park Thomas Road and Summit StreetTurf, Countryside and Ranch Wakeman and Cadillac Williston Basin Residents who have questions about the flood improvement projects are encouraged to call the City of Wheaton Engineering Department at 630-260-2065.
