RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA, CA — Halloween is upon us, Rancho Santa Margarita. That means candy corn, jack-o'-lantern carvings and — of course — trick-or-treating. To help you and your family celebrate the holiday safely, especially in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Orange County Health Care Agency released a few tips and tricks to help OC residents have a safe holiday. Stay Outside When You Can Rather than hosting Halloween celebrations indoors, consider outdoor activities for you and your friends and family. Moving your festivities outside could discourage COVID-19 transmission. Halloween games such as outdoor scavenger hunts or haunted outdoor play area were among those suggested by the OC Health Care Agency. Keep The Sanitizer On Deck If you live in a trick-or-treat hotspot, this tip is important. The agency encourages residents who plan on passing out candy to set up a trick-or-treat station with a bottle of hand sanitizer. The goodies should be individually wrapped, the OC Health Care Agency said, whether they be store-bought candies or hand-made goodie bags. Wear A Mask Face coverings in Orange County are highly recommended, even outdoors, and Halloween hoards are no exception. Whether you are vaccinated or unvaccinated for COVID-19, the OC Health Care Agency suggests donning a face mask when around groups of people that are not in your immediate household. The agency also recommends keeping a distance from other trick-or-treaters who are not a part of your group.
