NEWTOWN, PA — An installation ceremony to replace a vandalized political sign in Newtown will be held on Thursday, Oct. 28.
The large political sign, which was promoting Democrat Nicole Khan, was recently spray painted with pink spray paint on the corner of Eagle Road and Wrights Road in Newtown. Of all the Democratic candidates in the Newtown region, only Khan's were targeted for vandalism.
Speakers at the event will be Nicole Khan, Council Rock School Board Director candidate Yota Palli, Democratic Congressional candidate Ashley Ehasz, Lee Barson on behalf of his wife, candidate Paula Barson, Géza Szigethy of Council Rock Parents for School Safety, and Cantor Neil Schnitzer. A musical performance by Lynda Mintz will be held as well.
Steve Cickay of Newtown Democrats, who is organizing the event, said that the vandalism was juvenile behavior.
"We are gathering to support Nicole, to denounce bullying campaign tactics, and to say loud and clear that it's time to refocus the Council Rock School Board on educational excellence and the safety of our children."
At this time, no one has been arrested for the vandalism of the signs.
The event will take place on Thursday, Oct. 28, at 4 p.m. at the corner of Eagle Road and Wrights Road. If there is heavy rain, the event will be cancelled.
Further information on the event can be found on Facebook.
