Man Steals Copper From Plainfield Road: Joliet Police

JOLIET, IL — A 38-year-old resident arrested last week by Joliet police on multiple counts of burglary must stay away from all cellular towers and places with copper as a condition of his $110,000 bail, court documents show. Will County prosecutors charged Lawrence Lyman, who lives in Joliet's 2400 block of Burbank Street, with two counts of burglary, two counts of theft, one count of unlawful possession of heroin and one count of criminal damage to property. On Oct. 19, Lyman went to the Verizon Wireless property at 270 SE Frontage road in Joliet intending to commit a theft, his criminal complaint states. Four days earlier, on Oct. 15, Lyman went to the Verizon Wireless property at 929 Plainfield Road to commit a theft, his charges reflect. According to his two theft charges, Lyman stole copper belonging to Verizon Wireless and the value of the copper was between $500 and $10,000. On Oct. 19, Lyman damaged a steel entry door to a Verizon Wireless building at 929 Plainfield Road and the damage was between $500 and $10,000, the charge indicates. At the time of his Oct. 20 arrest by Joliet police, Lyman had heroin in his possession, according to his felony drug charge. Lyman has remained in the Will County Jail since Oct. 20, unable to post the necessary 10 percent bond.
