LEVITTOWN, PA – A 26-year-old Langhorne man was sentenced to spend the next 7 ½ to 20 years in prison Tuesday after being convicted earlier this year for shooting a former friend in an unprovoked attack in Falls Township in 2020, prosecutors announced. Jason Brennan was found guilty of two counts of aggravated assault and a felony gun charge by a Bucks County jury in June. He was also found guilty of two misdemeanor charges of recklessly endangering another person and possession of an instrument of crime. In July, Brennan pleaded guilty to possessing PCP as well as drug paraphernalia as well as a small amount of marijuana. Judge Wallace H. Bateman Jr., sentenced Brennan to five years to 15 years on the aggravated assault charge and 2 ½ years to five years on the firearms charge, to be served consecutively, for a total of 7 ½-20 years behind bars. Brennan was also ordered to undergo drug and alcohol and mental health treatments. Deputy Bucks County District attorney Mary Kate Kohler described Brennan as a danger to society and that evidence showed that the shooting, which took place in May 2020, was premeditated and that Brennan never showed any remorse for the crime. In imposing the sentence, Bateman said that the shooting was unprovoked and took place in front of the victim's child and other bystanders who were present at the time of the attack, the district attorney's office said Tuesday. The Falls Township Police Department was called to a home on Buttonwood Lane for a reported shooting at 3 p.m. on May 17. Police found a man who had been shot multiple times in his right arm. The victim told officers that before the shooting, Brennan, a former friend, in a white SUV parked outside his home and went to speak with him. During the conversation, Brennan told the victim, "You don't belong here" and "you better leave.", prosecutors said. The victim saw Brennan with a gun and called out to his girlfriend, who was outside with their 2-year-old child, to get inside and call 911. The victim then went into his home and retrieved his own firearms to protect his family from the defendant, the district attorney said. Brennan then fired at the victim, shooting past and barely missing an innocent bystander. Brennan left the scene when the victim returned fire. A short time later, Brennan was spotted in Croydon and was taken into custody by Bristol Township Police. He was in possession of a loaded handgun and his white Chevy Equinox was damaged by bullet holes.
