Description
GILROY, CA — The St. Louise Regional Hospital in Gilroy will deliver special recognition baskets to 15 first responder units on Thursday in honor of National First Responders Day, continuing a six-year tradition.
The tradition began in 2016, when hospital staff hosted a barbecue to thank firefighters in their efforts on the Loma fire, which threatened to destroy communications equipment at the hospital.
Hospital staff plan to "make the rounds" to 15 stations around Gilroy and Morgan Hill to deliver gift baskets, posters and handwritten notes for first responders. They hope that the idea spreads to other Bay Area communities.
"On behalf of the entire team at SLRH, I would like to express my sincere and heartfelt gratitude to all first responders for their dedication to ensuring the health and safety of everyone in our communities," Hospital Executive Gloria Dela Merced said. "Please join us by thanking first responders in your community, especially on the 28th."
