Description
Press release from the City Of Davis:
October 26, 2021 3:21 pm
This work was postponed by rain last week.
Paving prep work (grinding out old pavement) will start on Wednesday, Oct. 27, on 5th Street from L St to Pole Line Road. Please be prepared for noise and delays. The order of operations is scheduled for lane #2 (slow lane) westbound, lane #2 eastbound and then lane #1 (fast lane) eastbound.
On Thursday, the intersection of Fifth Street and L street will be closed for grinding between 4 a.m. and 9 a.m. Traffic will be detoured to Eighth Street during the time. Following the grind of the intersection, the #1 lane (fast lane) westbound will be ground in preparation for paving on Friday. If time permits, paving may begin Thursday in the #2 westbound lane.
On Friday, Oct. 29 (weather permitting), the 5th and L intersection (all four ways) and the two eastbound lanes L St to Pole Line Rd will be CLOSED for paving. To access businesses, drivers will be asked to approach from the west. This work will start as early as 4 a.m. This closure will allow the paving to be completed in one day. If paving does not occur Thursday, all paving will take place on Friday.
Drivers are encouraged to use other east-west routes if they do not have to be on 5th Street. Cyclists can use the off-street bike path on the south side of 5th Street.
