MARIETTA, GA — Marietta police discovered a potential pill-pushing operation at a short-term vacation rental home in the city and, with the help of the homeowner, arrested five men in connection with the discovery. Late last week, a homeowner that lists their property on VRBO went back to check on their home, and found five men that had overstayed their short-term lease, according to the Marietta Police Department. The homeowner "immediately noticed items and behavior that made them suspicious the renters were either using or selling drugs," police said. The homeowner called police for help, and upon arrival, an officer saw four of the men carrying a large item covered in a blanket and put it in a car, according to incident reports obtained by WSB-TV. As the officer spoke to one of the men — who was sweating heavily and had dilated pupils — the other three were struggling to keep balance, WSB-TV reported. MPD officers found 35 pounds of Xanax and 6.5 pounds of oxycodone hydrochloride — or roughly 39,000 pills total — in the home and car. Police also confiscated two pill presses, components to manufacture additional narcotics, a handgun and $7,700 in cash. All five suspects were arrested and booked into the Cobb County jail, and all face drug possession charges, among others: Jack Dent, 40Horace Randolph, 40Lincoln Jones Jr., 29Maurice Jackson, 39Nickolos Bond, 24 Police said it's not clear if the men took some of the pills they were making, or if they were exposed to them through chemicals, WSB-TV reported.
