Pima County Offering COVID-19 Booster Shots To Anyone Eligible

TUCSON, AZ — Anyone eligible for a COVID-19 booster shot can receive their choice of vaccine at the Pima County Health Department's health clinics, vaccination PODs and mobile clinics. Those who completed two doses of Pfizer or Moderna at least six months ago are eligible for a booster if they are 65 years old or older or are age 18+ and live in a long-term care setting, have underlying medical conditions and/or work or live in a high-risk setting for COVID-19 exposure, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said. Additionally, the CDC is recommending booster shots to anyone 18 years old or older who received the Johnson & Johnson vaccine at least two months ago. "The CDC is also allowing people to choose which vaccine they receive as a booster dose," Pima County Health officials said. "For example, if you initially had two shots of Pfizer, you can switch to Moderna or J&J." A complete list of mobile vaccination clinics and standing vaccination PODs run by the Pima County Health Department can be found here, along with their days and hours of operation. Weekend and after-work hours are also available at Pima County sites, including the Abrams Public Health Center (3950 S. Country Club Road) and mobile clinics. All three vaccine types are widely available at pharmacies as well, officials said. Locations and types of vaccines offered can be found here. The vaccine is free and no ID is required at Pima County sites. Anyone eligible should bring their vaccination card when they get their booster shot, officials said. People who lost their card should look up the date of their second shot here prior to their visit for the booster. To request a new vaccination card, download and fill out the state's Immunization Record Request Form and return it by email, fax or posted mail.
