The Ruff Ranch is a dog boarding and training facility in beautiful Santa Ynez. We are looking for a reliable, hard-working staff member to join our small team. Kennel staff care for our canine guests and make sure they receive the very best care while staying with us. If you want to wear jeans and a t-shirt, work outside, and learn to be an advocate for dogs of all different personalities - please apply! What you need to offer us: CONFIDENCE to handle big and dogs. Able to lift 40 pounds and stand for long periods of time. Experience as an animal caretaker, kennel assistant, kennel technician, dog daycare attendant, veterinary assistant, dog walker, or pet sitter is preferred. Problem solver and effective communicator. Positive, highly motivated self-starter. Availability to work weekends and holidays as needed. Ability to pass a criminal background test. You must have reliable transportation. MUST WORK WELL AS PART OF A TEAM. What you will do: Be on your feet, be outside in all kinds of weather, and still have a great attitude! Safely and compassionately manage and care for 15-30 dogs per day. Feed dogs according to detailed instructions. Supervise dogs in the play yards, clean up after dogs, cleans kennels. Use our software to check in or check out dogs. Work with fellow staff members to ensure best-in-class customer service. Be dependable, trustworthy, and show up for shifts on time! The dogs are depending on you. If you have no experience, but have great work ethic, we will train you! Shift times: 7:30a-4:30p, 8:30a-5:30p, and 9:30a-6:30p and assorted shorter shifts. Candidates with the ability to work Saturday or Sunday are highly desirable. This is a 24/7/365 business. Holidays are our busiest time.
