Description
What's up Minneapolis musicians. Let me start with getting the clichés out of the way: I am new to the area and just moved here from San Diego a few years ago. I am in my mid 30's and have been in and out of bands for the last 15 years or so. I have usually been a guitarist/singer in bands, but I have also been a bassist and played keys, singing backups, sometimes playing drums... all kinds of stuff. The styles have varied pretty wildly, so I am into all kinds of rad music. The latest band I was in was called Octagrape. https://octagrape.bandcamp.com/ It was a super loud garage rock and was a very fun band to play in. I played bass with them. I have a solo project called Holly Woodlove, which you can hear here: https://hollywoodlove.bandcamp.com/ It's a good reflection of my abilities on all instruments I play, since I am the only one on those records. I had a band working on this material and also starting a whole new project called Midnight Tapes for just over a year. Our first gig was supposed to be 3/30/20, which was the weekend COVID shut everything down. When COVID delayed the project, it eventually fell apart. I would love to form a band around the Holly Woodlove project and gig with it. I am also open to joining an already formed original band or starting a new original project. I can also record our project and could host practices, as I have a pretty cool little studio in my home and a PA. I do have a day-job type schedule, but I love music and I make time for it in my life. I am new here, so I don't know many people or have any pull in booking gigs yet. As a musician, I am a professional with a great ear and a love for many genres. Here are just a few bands I enjoy: Talking Heads Anything Daptone related of Montreal Whitney Unknown Mortal Orchestra Dr. Dog Prism Tats Vulfpeck There are many more, but there's a few. I miss playing with other people. I keep hearing about how great the scene is here and I would love to start playing with some fun band mates. I also yearn for making friends with supportive fellow musicians. I am also dealing with some pretty amazing anxiety after having come through the pandemic, so I need to navigate that as I move forward. I have a car and am not into drama or anything like that. I just love making music and don't always want to do that alone. I am fully vaccinated and respectful of people's safety during this weird time we live in. I would love to make something funky, heavy, sincere, and/or experimental. Anyone who is interested in either forming around the solo project, starting something new or having me join their ongoing project, please reach out. I'd love to hang or get together and play or whatever people do. Thanks for reading.
