Description
Writing is a craft, and while there is always a mystery to creativity, writing can be taught.
For the last fifteen years, I have worked to help develop writers of all levels of ability. The goal here is not to make you famous or successful: it is to make you the writer you want to become. What you do with this training is up to you.
Things you will learn:
-What is structure, and why is it crucial?
-What must happen at the 17th minute of your film?
-How do I choose a Point of View character?
-What is dialogue—what is it for?
-What is the purpose of a soundtrack, and why should you leave it out of your script?
-What kinds of camera moves should I include?
-Why isn’t the actual story always about the hero?
-What is story?
-When should I abandon a project?
-How can conflict naturally arise?
-How do I write women and minorities?
And much more.
If you’d like, I will also teach you about short stories, novels, personal essays, and all manner of creative writing.
$50/1 hour session, $65/90 minute session.
The course is individually tailored to each client’s needs and level of development, and can take as many or as few sessions as you choose.
We will meet in public spaces such as coffee shops or bars.
My name is Palmer. I look forward to meeting you, and hearing about the projects that excite you. I look forward to helping bring those projects to life.
